Cold weather doesn’t just bring cozy sweaters and hot drinks. It also brings dry, itchy skin and when your skin’s uncomfortable, especially for kids or anyone with sensitivity, even simple daily routines like hand washing can become a source of irritation. We craft our natural herbal soap with purpose and transparency using six natural oils that are known to nourish, protect and support your skin’s health especially during winter. Each oil was chosen not just for how it feels, but for what it does for your skin. Here’s why our ingredients matter and why they’re perfect for families seeking gentle, effective botanical soaps all season long.
Glycerin is an amazing benefit of handmade soap. When soap is made the traditional way, glycerine is a natural by-product and remains in your soap. Most of your name brand soaps bought in a store remove the glycerin from their bars of soaps. Glycerine is a humectant meaning it draws moisture from the air to your skin. Handmade soaps keep this moisturizing glycerin right where it belongs helping your skin stay naturally hydrated.
All of our herbal soap bars are olive oil infused with herbs for a particular skin concern. You will find that we use calendula, chamomile, lavender, nettles and so many other herbs. These herbal infusions play a big role in our herbal soap bars adding nutrients and skin-loving ingredients for your skin.
Olive Oil: The Foundation of Our Natural Herbal Soap
Olive oil makes up the largest portion of our formula (40%) and for good reasons. This age-old ingredient is packed with skin-loving antioxidants like vitamin E and polyphenols. It’s gentle, deeply moisturizing and incredibly soothing for dry or irritated skin. Used in many traditional all natural herbal soaps, olive oil helps form a rich, creamy lather that cleanses without stripping your skin’s natural oils. That makes it ideal for sensitive skin, aging skin and even young children. Some of the amazing benefits of olive oil in our all-natural herbal soap:
• Deeply moisturizing: Rich in oleic acid, it locks in moisture, preventing water loss and keeping skin hydrated.
• Skin barrier repair: The fatty acids help strengthen the skin's natural lipid barrier, which is often compromised in winter.
• Anti-inflammatory: Compounds like oleocanthal soothe redness and irritation common in cold weather.
Shea Butter: Deep Hydration in our Herbal Soap
Shea butter is a true winter skin ingredient. High in vitamins A and E, it delivers deep hydration, soothes dry patches and helps strengthen your skin’s protective barrier. In our herbal soap, shea butter acts as a healing balm that locks in moisture after every wash.
Perfect for:
• Eczema-prone skin
• Rough hands and heels
• Dry, flaky winter skin
Coconut Oil: A Natural Skin Conditioner in our Herbal Soap
Coconut oil adds natural cleansing power to our soap bar, helping remove dirt and oil without harsh chemicals. It also supports a fluffy, moisturizing lather that makes your wash feel luxurious. We use coconut oil in balance with other oils, so you get the clean feeling without the dry, tight feeling many soaps leave behind. Some benefits of coconut oil in herbal soap:
• Skin healing
• Anti-fungal and anti-bacterial
Rice Bran Oil: Gentle and Nourishing in Herbal Soap
Rice bran oil is one of our favorite gentle oils, especially for sensitive and aging skin. It helps calm inflammation, support repair and gently moisturize skin without clogging pores. It’s one of the reasons our natural soaps work well for so many skin types including little ones.
Rich in:
• Vitamin E
• B vitamins
• Ferulic acid (a powerful antioxidant)
Castor Oil: For Moisture and Latherin Herbal Soap
Castor oil is thick, rich and deeply hydrating. It draws moisture into the skin and helps it stay there and so perfect for fighting winter dryness. It also helps give our bars a creamy lather, so your skin feels pampered with every use.
Avocado Oil: Deeply Nourishing for Dry Skin in Herbal Soap
It penetrates deeply, helping to restore elasticity and reduce flaking. If your skin feels tight, rough, or just plain uncomfortable in the winter, avocado oil offers the deep nourishment you’re craving. You’ll find this star ingredient in our healthy skin soaps working hard to calm and restore with every wash.
Avocado oil is loaded with:
• Vitamins A, D, and E
• Essential fatty acids
• Nutrients that support collagen production

Winter weather may be beautiful, but it’s brutal on your skin. This year in Wisconsin, I am beginning to believe that we are the only state that has cold weather. That’s why we believe in formulating every product with purpose and in the colder months purpose means protection and locking in moisture.
