Nature holds all the ingredients we need to create herbal soaps, skincare and wellness products that will care for your skin, but we feel that it is equally important that you know that the ingredients we are using are a healthy addition to our soaps, skincare and wellness products and will help nurture your skin’s health.  By understanding and knowing what nutrients and vitamin are in a particular carrier oil or a botanical helps us to make sure that the ingredients we are using are the “right fit” and will give us both the results we are looking for in a natural skincare product.  We know that the balance of ingredients we use in our products are what makes our products more effective and nourishing for your skin.

Our glossary of ingredients will hopefully help  you understand why an oil or a botanical was added and the benefits of these ingredients.

With continued use of natural skincare, it is impossible not to see and feel the difference in your skin.  It’s just simply nature’s path.

  • Abyssian Oil: Abyssinian oil is thought to be an effective moisturizer that promotes smooth skin, helps to keep your skin hydrated and aides in removing wrinkles.  Abyssian oil absorbs quickly into the skin leaving very little oily feeling.  Abyssinian oil is rich in Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin A, Vitamin B6, Vitamin E and Vitamin C.
  • Almond Meal: Helps to remove dry, dead skin, is known to help reduce inflammation and contains an abundance of vitamin E- an antioxidant which is essential to maintaining healthy skin and gentle enough to be used on all skin
  • Aloe Vera Powder: This powder is high in antioxidants, vitamin C, and other minerals. Aloe Vera has known anti-inflammatory and analgesic qualities, which can help to alleviate “angry skin” conditions, itchy rashes, sunburn, and dryness.
  • Apricot Kernel Oil: Apricot kernel oil is effective for all skin types.  It is super nourishing and rich in vitamin A, which helps the skin rebuild tissues and regulate cellular growth.  Apricot kernel oil is considered a natural emollient and absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving an oily residue.
  • Argan Oil: Argan is a rich oil, plentiful in vitamin E, antioxidants and essential fatty acidsmaking it a great choice for skin care products.  It has natural anti-inflammatory properties and is known to help balance sebum production, so it can be very beneficial for oily and acne-prone skin.
  • Arnica Herb: Arnica infused oil is known for its ability to ease many kinds of physical discomfort for example, the discomfort of minor physical injuries, ease muscles and restore a sense of health and strength.
  • Arrowroot Powder: Arrowroot powder is a white, silky powder that is commonly used in natural body powder and deodorants.  Arrowroot is used as a natural alternative to "talc", because talc can contain asbestos.
  • Avocado Oil: Avocado oil is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids and vitamins A, D, and E. This oil has a superior moisturizing effect on the upper layer of the skin making it excellent for “angry skin” conditions, dry or mature skin.
  • Basil Essential Oil: Commonly used in aromatherapy and skin care, basil essential oil has an herbaceous and refreshing scent. It has known anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal properties.
  • Beeswax: By itself, beeswax helps to lock in moisture and protects your skin. Beeswax has known anti-bacterial properties and vitamin A.  Beeswax forms a light barrier on your skin that prevents loss of moisture and helps seal in moisturizing oils and butters without clogging pores.
  • Bergamot Essential Oil: This wonderful smelling essential oil has antibacterial properties and is a natural cleanser. It's particularly good for oily skin helping to unclog pores and balance sebum levels
  • Buttermilk Powder: Buttermilk Powder is soothing and moisturizing when used alone as a bath soak or when included in milk baths, bath salts, or other bath formulations.
  • Calendula Flower Powder: Calendula flower powder is ground from cultivated Calendula officinalis. The nourishing benefits of calendula help to give you more supple skin almost instantly. In the long term, both the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties help to protect your collagen and elastin supply.
  • Calendula infused oils: Calendula-infused oil is derived from the calendula flower (also known as marigold flower) and is frequently used in skincare and medicine. It has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can help alleviate skin irritation and the oil can be used to treat everything from rosacea to eczema to rashes.
  • Camellia Oil: A wild flower which grows in China and Japan, this natural plant oil contains vitamins A, B, and E, is also rich in squalene--an important component of the skin's natural emollient system and antioxidants to help revitalize and rejuvenate your skin, Camellia seed oil is best known for its super light 'dry oil' finish which is easily absorbed into your face leaving it soft and nourished with no greasiness left behind.     
  • Candelilla Wax: Candelilla Wax is a natural non-animal based wax. Plants producing candelilla wax grows in Mexico.   It is quick absorbing and also has very emollient properties.
  • Carrot Seed Essential Oil: This essential oil has a warm, earthy aroma and is believed to offer a variety of health benefits, including the reduction of stress and anxiety. When added to a carrier oil or cream emulsion, carrot seed oil has antimicrobial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory propertiesthat may improve skin health and even help prevent aging.
  • Castor Oil: Derived from the seed of an annual shrub, castor oil contains omega 6 essential fatty acids, vitamin E, as well as other vitamins and minerals. Castor oil is also a natural emollient that creates a protective barrier on skin.
  • Cedarwood essential oil: Cedarwood essential oil is known for its sweet and woody fragrance, which is warm and comforting naturally promoting stress relief. Used in natural skin care products, cedarwood essential oil can help soothe irritation, inflammation, redness, and itchiness, as well as dryness that leads to cracking, peeling, or blistering. It is known to help regulate sebum production making it ideal for acne-causing bacteria. 
  • Chamomile Essential Oil: This oil has known powerful anti-inflammatory and calming properties.  Chamomile essential oil is a wonderful ingredient to help soothe your complexion and a great natural remedy to calm your skin.
  • Chamomile Flower Powder:  Chamomile flower powder is a fabulous herb to use in natural skincare and handcrafted soap. Chamomile flower powder is milled from whole blossoms and provides skin softening qualities.
  • Chamomile herb: Matricaria recutita is a well-known blossom in the herbal world and this herb is known for its gentle actions. With its emollient, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, chamomile has a soothing and calming effect on skin.
  • Cocoa Butter: Cocoa Butter is an excellent moisturizer that is great at softening skin and protecting it against water loss. This is a key ingredient in many of our soaps and natural skincare products.  Cocoa butter contains vitamin E and vitamin K. It’s great for dry or dehydrated skin, and also for sensitive or baby skin.
  • Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer and is widely used in soap-making giving soaps their cleansing properties.
  • Coconut Oil – Fractionated: Fractionated coconut oil is rich in hydrating properties that help to soothe and soften your skin.
  • Colloidal Oatmeal: Colloidal oatmeal is made by grinding oat grain into a fine powder. It's considered an emollient— a substance that softens or soothes the skin — because it packs fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients shown to benefit the skin.
  • Comfrey herb: With its emollient, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, comfrey has a soothing and calming effect on skin.
  • Dandelions: Dandelion infused oil is used in salves, lotions, and lip balms to soothe dry and cracked skinDandelions are also known for anti-aging, encouraging healthy skin production and promoting collagen production. 
  • Dead Sea Salt:  Dead Sea salt can help to strengthen skin tissue, improve blood circulation, eliminate toxins and balances the skin's natural pH levels.Dead Sea salt can also help “angry skin” conditions by exfoliating dead skin cells, rehydrating the skin and restoring depleted minerals.
  • Dendritic salt: Dendritic Salt is an all-natural, free flowing fine grain salt that has been crystallized to provide greater surface area. Retains scent longer than other salts.
  • Elderflower Herb: Elderflowers are rich in vitamins A, B, C and E, all of which promote firmer skin and even skin tone. The astringent properties of elderflowers help encourage a smoother, even skin complexion.
  • Eucalyptus Essential Oil: Eucalyptus Essential Oil has purifying, cleansing and clarifying properties.  Eucalyptus Oil is a popular ingredient in skincare products for its soothing, stimulating and anti-bacterial properties.
  • European Spa Salt: European Sea Salt is solar evaporated and harvested from the waters of the Mediterranean Sea!  Thought to be the purest salt in the world and all-natural.
  • Evening Primrose Oil: Evening Primrose oil contains high levels of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acidsand is good for dry and mature skin. This oil promotes healthy skin by restoring moisture, helping to maintain skin elasticity and perfect for “angry-skin” conditions.
  • Frankincense Essential Oil: This essential oil’s aroma can be described as woody, earthy, and spicy with a fruity nuance. Used in aromatherapy for its comforting fragrance.  Frankincense essential oil is thought to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and skin imperfections such as discoloration.
  • French Green Clay: French green clay is beneficial in removing impurities and tightening skin pores, toning the skin, helps in exfoliating dead skin cells and reducing inflammation in acne.
  • French Pink Clay: French Pink Clay is a combination of red and white clays. It is considered to be the mildest of all the clays and works well for normal, sensitive and mature skin types.
  • French White Kaolin Clay: French white, or kaolin, clay is the gentlest and least absorbent of clays. Without drawing out oils, white clay will gently exfoliate and cleanse dry, sensitive skin, while helping to stimulate circulation and improve tone.
  • Geranium Essential Oil: Geranium Essential Oil is thought to help eliminate dead cells, tighten the skin, promote the regeneration of new skin and diminish signs of aging.  When used in aromatherapy applications, Geranium essential oil reduces feelings of stress, anxiety, sadness, fatigue and tension.
  • Glycerin: Glycerin is a humectant, a type of moisturizing agent that pulls water into the outer layer of your skin from deeper levels of your skin and the air.   In soap making, glycerin is naturally produced and stays in every bar of soap.
  • Grapeseed Oil: Grapeseed oil is rich in vitamin E and omega fatty acids. Grapeseed oil is one of the lightest carrier oils available and is easily absorbed into skin without leaving a greasy feeling. It has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory, which may help with acne-prone skin.
  • Green Tea Powder: Green tea powder is an excellent addition to cosmetics and soap due to its antioxidant properties and gentle exfoliation. 
  • Hazelnut Oil: Hazelnut oil is high in vitamins A, B and rich in Vitamin E.This oil is very nourishing and soothing for the skin and good for preventing dehydration. Easily and quickly absorbed by the skin and does not leave it feeling greasy.
  • Hemp Seed Oil: Hemp seed oil has a high content of proteins and essential fatty acids. Hemp seed Oil soothes and nourishes dry skin, helps to protect the skin’s moisture barrier, can improve the texture of skin and reduces the visible signs of aging.  Hemp Seed Oil is easily absorbed in to the skin.
  • Hibiscus Flower Powder: Hibiscus powder is ground from dried organic flowers and can be added to facial masks to provide toning, soothing and softening affects to the skin or can be infused and added to lotions and creams.
  • Hibiscus petals: Hibiscus sabdariffa is a member of the mallow family known for its vibrant red flowers.  Cultivated hibiscus flower is ideal for blending into herbal infusions.  Hibiscus is known to encourage an all-round fresher, younger, smoother looking complexion by breaking down dead skin and increasing cell turnover.
  • Himalayan Pink Salt: Himalayan pink salt contains trace amounts of potassium, calcium, and magnesium,all minerals that your body needs to stay healthy.
  • Honey Powder: Honey attracts the dirt from skin pores and dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. It is known to be a natural skin cleanser and softener.
  • Jojoba Oil: Jojoba is considered to be an oil that closely resembles sebum.  Vitamin B and Ehelp repair skin while soothing fine lines and wrinkles.  This oil penetrates the skin easily and has known anti-inflammatory properties.  It is great for mature, aging skin and is exceptionally mild for sensitive skin.
  • Kelp Powder: Kelp powder is mineral and antioxidant richand is known to help soften and hydrate dry skin.  It also helps your skin retain moisture, keeping it hydrated for longer.
  • Kokum Butter: Because of its rich emollient properties, kokum butter is easily absorbed by skin.  This butter contains vitamin E and is considered non-comedogenic, so it does not clog pores.  It is known to soften skin and restore skin elasticity.
  • Lavender Essential Oil: Lavender is probably the most versatile of all essential oils. It has known anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic properties. Lavender oil in soaps and natural skincare products will help keep your skin calm, balanced and looking great. Lavender has a soothing, calming effect on mood, stress, anxiety, 
  • Lavender Flower Powder: Lavender flower powder is finely ground lavender buds, which can be used in soaps, infused oils, salves, body powders and facial masks.
  • Lemon Essential Oil: Lemon essential oil benefits your skin by reducing acne, nourishing damaged skin and hydrating the skin.  In aromatherapy, lemon oil provides an uplifting environment and promotes a positive mood.
  • Lemongrass Essential Oil: Lemongrass essential oil has known anti-inflammatory properties, helps in reducing redness, inflammation, itching and swelling. In aromatherapy, people use the scent to fight negative feelings, eliminate mental fatigue and to feel refreshed. Lemongrass is thought to be stimulating and cleansing, uplifting and energizing.
  • Litsea Essential Oil: (May Chang) Bright, lemony, and energizing, May Chang is most commonly known for its usefulness in dealing with skin problems. May Chang has uplifting properties and it has a strong effect on promoting mental and physical well-being. May Chang oil works effectively in cleansing the skin and removing excess oil. It is widely used in natural skin care to help with oily skin and has a firming effect on the skin.
  • Macadamia Nut oil: Macadamia Nut oil is high in omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids.It is known to help soothe and revitalize the look of the skin and is an excellent moisturizer for very dry skin.
  • Mango Butter: Mango Butter is a great moisturizer for all skin types, but especially mature, dry or sun-damaged skin. Mango butter contains vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E. Non-comedogenic mango butter helps provide relief from the dryness of “angry-skin” conditions. 
  • Marshmallow Root Powder: Marshmallow root is known to have moisturizing and soothing properties that make it highly effective for revitalizing both skin and hair
  • Marula Oil: Rich in antioxidant and essential fatty acids, Marula oil has been found to significantly improve skin hydration, softness, and smoothness. It absorbs well into the skin leaving a silky smooth feel.
  • Meadowfoam Oil: Meadowfoam oil has an interesting combination of fatty acids, which helps to soften the skin and works as an anti-inflammatory ingredient. It forms a strong barrier on the skin and helps to moisturize it.
  • Milk Powder: Milk powders contain lactic acid which helps make your skin feel smooth. The antioxidantspresent in milk powder stimulates the production of collagen which maintains the elasticity of the skin. It always keeps your skin hydrated by locking the moisture in it. It is a great

  • Olive Leaf Powder: It is high in linoleic acid and antioxidants all of which make for great and is used as a natural brown colorant and additive in soap.
  • Olive Oil: Olive oil is an excellent moisturizer, high in nutrients and antioxidants and is rich in natural squalene.  It is widely used in cosmetics and it produces a very mild and moisturizing bar of soap. Olive oil contains vitamins A, D, E, and K.
  • Olive Squalane: Olive squalane soothes and moisturizes without leaving an oily finish. It helps boost skin moisture, making the complexion look more nourished.  Olive squalane is believed to help with dry, rough skin and “angry-skin” conditions, improves elasticity, reduces signs of aging, and boosts cell regeneration. Squalane is produced naturally by your skin until your mid 20s and helps to moisturize and protect it. It is lighter than an oil and leaves the skin silky and smooth feeling.
  • Palmarosa Essential Oil: When used in natural skin care, palmarosa essential oil is known to be helpful in balancing dry, oil and combination skin types.  Palmarosa essential oil has a cleansing aroma with slightly sweet and floral notes, which is a very comforting scent and can be used during times of anxiety.
  • Peach Kernel Oil: Peach Kernel is rich in vitamins A & E.  Peach Kernel oil has wonderful nourishing, regenerative and moisturizing properties, which help to soothe sensitive and inflamed skin and is a good treatment for dry and mature skin.
  • Perilla Oil: The Perilla seeds are cold pressed to produce an oil rich in vitamins, amino acids and Omega-3 fatty acid. The Omega-3 fatty acids are known to help improve the appearance and texture of skin.  Perilla seed oil is known to help retain moisture in skin.
  • Peppermint Essential Oil: In natural skin care, peppermint essential oil brightens, clears and tones skin. In aromatherapy, peppermint essential oil can boost energy and can help with feelings of nervous tension and stress.
  • Pomegranate Seed Oil: Pomegranate seed oil is used in both soap and skin care. Rich in  vitamin C,pomegranate seed oil also contains punicic acid, an anti-inflammatory omega-5 fatty acid.  It provides a feeling of natural moisture and after application the skin usually feels soft and smooth.
  • Pumpkin Seed Oil: Pumpkin Seed Oil is said to be rich in vitamins A, B, D & E, minerals, and proteins. It is rich in omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acidsmaking it perfect skincare. Pumpkin Seed oil has good moisturizing and lubricating properties and can be used on all skin types as it hydrates the skin and helps to reduce visible signs of aging.
  • Raspberry Seed Oil: This oil makes a terrific addition to natural skincare products due to its soothing properties. Raspberry seed oil has emollient, lubricating, conditioning and anti-inflammatory propertiesand helps create a lipid barrier which provides moisture retention and protection to the skin.  Rich in ellagic acid, it can help protect your collagen from damage.
  • Rhassoul Clay: This exceptional clay is rich in silica, potassium, magnesium and calcium. Rhassoul clay's most impressive properties that benefit the skin is its capacity to absorb. Studies have shown that it is reputed to reduce the dryness and flakiness of the skin while improving the texture of the skin. 
  • Rice Bran Oil:  Rice Bran Carrier Oil has a high percentage of fatty acids and is one of the best sources of an antioxidantthat may be much more powerful and effective than Vitamin E. It is a mild oil perfect for dry, flaky, sensitive, mature and delicate skin where additional moisture is required and is effective for keeping skin smooth.
  • Rose Hip Powder: Rose hip powder has been praised for the moisturizing boost it gives to weathered, dry and dehydrated skin. The fatty acids act as excellent moisturizers for the skin, while also helping to form and keep the walls of skin cells strong and able to lock in moisture.
  • Rose Hip Seed Oil: Rosehip is an incredible moisturizing oil and considered a dry oil, which makes it suitable for a wide range of skin types. It is also abundant in Vitamin C,which helps brighten the complexion, aid blood flow and promote collagen production.  Rosehip oil is rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants, which are needed for tissue and cell regeneration in the skin, as well as the reduction of scars and fine lines.
  • Rosemary Essential Oil: Used in aromatherapy, rosemary essential oil helps reduce stress levels and nervous tension, boost mental activity and helps relieve fatigue.  Rosemary essential oil has known anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal properties. 
  • Safflower Oil: This oil has high levels oflinoleic acid and is excellent for helping to balance the sebum levels in the skin. And with its light, non-greasy consistency, safflower oil is absorbed quickly into the skin, making it an excellent moisturizing facial oil suitable for all skin
  • Sea buckthorn oil: This oil is excellent for sensitive   Sea Buckthorn oil contains large amounts of vitamins B1, B2, B6, C and E. It promotes skin hydration, elasticity, cell regeneration, and even helps treat and prevent acne.
  • Sesame Seed Oil: Sesame Oil is incredibly nourishing for the skin.  This oil is high in zinc, which helps your skin produce collagen.
  • Shea Butter: Shea Butter is known for its moisturizing and emollient properties that melts on contact with skin.  Rich in vitamins and fatty acids, it penetrates deeply, hydrates and softens and soothes dry and damaged skin.
  • Skullcap Herb: This herb has known anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Spinach Powder:  Used as a natural colorant in soaps.
  • Sunflower Oil: Sunflower Oil has high amounts of vitamins A, B, D and E, minerals, and unsaturated fatty acids.  Deeply nourishing, sunflower oil helps to treat dry and damaged skin as well as “angry-skin” conditions.  Sunflower oil is very moisturizing, easily absorbed and can be used on all skin types. It is especially helpful for delicate or dry skin.
  • Sweet Almond Oil: Sweet Almond oil is an excellent emollient and is known for its ability to soften skin. It is rich in proteins and Vitamin D.  This oil is considered extremely nourishing to the skin.
  • Sweet Orange Essential Oil: This essential oil has a pleasant, cheerful and uplifting scent and yet can have a relaxing and calming effect.  Sweet orange essential oil is beneficial for maintaining the health, appearance, and texture of skin.
  • Tamanu Oil: Tamanu oil is loaded with antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties.  This oil is known for revitalizing and improving the texture of skin, promoting new tissue formation, encourage healthy skin growth and helps with “angry-skin” conditions.
  • Tea Tree Essentia Oil: Tea tree oil has known antimicrobial and antifungal properties.  It is thought to calm redness, swelling, and inflammation.
  • Tocopherol (vitamin E): Tocopherol is a form of vitamin E. Tocopherol is known as an antioxidant superhero that provides protection for your skin when included in body care products.
  • Vanilla Powder: Vanilla powder is a great source of natural antioxidants. These natural antioxidants help protect against environmental stressors. Vitamin B vitamins are also found in Vanilla powder. 
  • Walnut Oil:  Walnut oil is high in antioxidants and helps fight aging really well. It is extremely good for your skin.  Walnut Oil is believed to have anti-aging, regenerative and skin toning properties, which makes it wonderful for damaged or maturing skin.  It is also thought to be beneficial for “angry-skin” conditions. 
  • Wheat Germ Oil:  Wheat Germ oil is known for its high vitamin E content, which makes it perfect for an anti-aging oil. It has rejuvenating, wound-healing and anti-inflammatory properties. Some “angry-skin” conditions can also benefit from Wheat Germ oil. When applied to your skin, wheat germ oil delivers a healthy infusion of vitamin A, vitamin D, B vitamins, antioxidants and fatty acids.
  • Willow Bark Herb:  This herb contains salicin from which salicylic acid is derived.  Willow bark has known anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
  • Yarrow Herb:  Yarrow is wonderful for soothing skin that is prone to irritations and is deeply nourishing and restorative for skin.
  • Yellow Brazilian Clay: This clay is considered to be a powerful cleanser which draws out impurities from the skin while the essential minerals within the clay are released. It is known to help clear off dead skin cells from the surface of the skin and tones skin leaving it feeling fresh and smooth.
